The Capricornian Restaurant was established in 2003 and takes its name from its location, being situated adjacent to the Tropic of Capricorn at 23.5ºS latitude, in the township of Emerald in the Central Highlands Region of QLD.
An interior of soothing terra cotta and chocolate tones complemented by textures of natural wood, leather and stone provide a backdrop of casual elegance in a spacious comfortable setting for dinner.

With an extensive variety of dining areas and menu packages from which to choose the Capricornian experience can be anything from casual to five star …… a Cocktail Party in the Arbour… a Formal Occasion in the main dining room … a Private setting on the Terrace …. or casual Tapas in the Cocktail Lounge, the Capricornian is a versatile multi-faceted premise that has the capacity to cater to a wide range of individual needs.

With an eclectic a la carte menu structured with depth and versatility we have created a menu that can be comfortably dined on with a degree of frequency both by the itinerant and local guest alike.
It has always been our charter to provide a standard of excellence relevant and absolute to international restaurant industry standards irrespective of our remote location… which in doing so may present us as something of an ‘oasis’ of contemporary dining in a remote area. To that end, as well as a quality food product, we offer over a range of over 30 individual beers, more than 70 labels of wine and an extensive Cocktail list.

The Capricornian Restaurant was graciously recognised by Savour Australia™ Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence in being name “Best Restaurant in Northern Qld” in 2011

The Food Philosophy

The Capricornian presents a menu pragmatically based on traditional ideals of nourishment, freshness and flavour relevant to its location. A Menu which is contemporary without being overcome by food fashion...essentially, modern Australian cuisine with some world influences.

“We use only premium quality ingredients at the restaurant…. MSA grade beef meticulously sourced and freighted, together with seafood expressed from our Eastern seaboard. Our food product is founded on a philosophy of in-house preparation ….. in-house sauces, pastas, pastries, and hand made entrees and desserts.
